Sights of the City Part III with Sam Jacobs
In the third and final walk in Sam’s much-loved City of London walk series, we start at a gate in the City’s Roman wall. During the tour we take in so much history: Chaucer, the Reformation, Jack the Ripper, Synagogues large and small, Ashkenazi and Sephardi and that’s just in the first minutes. We visit the site of the Houndsditch robbery, and sites of worship used by Huguenot, Methodist, Jewish and Islamic faiths. The area is very lively and we see the birthplaces of some unlikely characters. Spitalfields market offers many delights and it’s likely we’ll end up enjoying some of them.
