The Circle Square x Hélène Binet Photography Competition is now open for entries from amateur photographers over the age of 50 and will close on Friday 16th January 2026.

Inspired by Hélène, this year’s theme is Architecture and Emotions, which invites you to see beyond the structure of a building, but feel what it means to you.

Hélène explains, “To me, photographing architecture is more than documentation — but a creative and emotional encounter with space, light, material, and the thoughts that belong to a place.”

About Hélène Binet

Hélène Binet (b. 1959) is a Swiss-French, internationally acclaimed visual artist and photographer based in London. She studied photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome, the city where she spent most of her formative years. For more than 35 years, Binet has been photographing both contemporary and historic architecture around the world.

Her work has been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions, including solo shows at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2021), and the Power Station of Art, Shanghai (2019). In 2007, she was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. She received the Julius Shulman Institute Excellence in Photography Award in 2015 and was awarded the Ada Louise Huxtable Prize in 2019, recognising a woman who has made a significant contribution to architecture. Binet is also one of the Royal Photographic Society’s Hundred Heroines.

She has published several books and recently completed an overview of her work with Hund Humphries. This year, she is the recipient of the Lucie Award for Achievement in Architecture.

How to Enter:

This year, there is a twist. We are asking for a series of three images, that work together as a cohesive set; whether it’s from different angles, viewpoints or showing different details.

Winners, selected by Hélène Binet, will be notified by the end of February, with winning images showcased on our website and social media.
