Circle Square is delighted to announce its first film screening.

In collaboration with The Phoenix Cinema and production company Manon et Jacob, we are proud to present a special screening of the multi award-winning “Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other,” a documentary that delves into the complex yet creatively rich relationship between Bronx-born photographer Joel Meyerowitz and British artist Maggie Barrett.

At its core, this beautiful and often humorous film addresses themes of life, death, and the search for meaning. It follows the journey of this ageing artist couple (Joel and Maggie), who, after experiencing an accident, confront the inevitability of impermanence and seek deep peace in their relationship while they still can.

Filmmakers Jacob Perlmutter and Manon Ouimet lived with Joel and Maggie during filming to see where the year would take them and the film. Through the experiences of the protagonists, they aim to spark conversations across generations, addressing relatable themes of ageing and defiance against it.

“excellent…a powerful insight into a life shared” The Guardian, Leslie Felperin

During this special event, there will be a Q&A session with Joel Meyerowitz, Maggie Barrett and the Filmmakers Jacob Perlmutter and Manon Ouimet, allowing you to ask any questions you have about the film and the making of it.
