Clear writing starts with clear thinking. This 1.5 hour discovery workshop will show you how to write clearly and effectively, whether you are crafting an email or a lengthy company report. That means asking yourself some questions at the start – preferably in writing: what do I want to achieve with this content, who is it aimed at and what am I delivering? Planning is crucial and we will look at different ways of doing that, from Mindmaps to using Post it notes. Clarity and simplicity can be crucial – but so are sentence length, varying pace and rhythm and sometimes surprising the reader. We will look at sentence type, from simple to compound-complex, balanced and climactic. We will look at the words we use and how they fit together to make paragraphs sing or sound clunky. Drawing on the masters of clear writing from George Orwell to Harold Evans this workshop will help take your writing to the next level – and make every sentence count.
