Harp Recital with Anwen Mai Thomas and Festive Drinks
We are delighted to be hosting a very special evening of music, with award-winning Welsh harpist, Anwen Mai Thomas, followed by a Festive Drinks Reception.
Anwen is delighted to be performing for Circle Square members. Her recital will consist of her favourite repertoire to play on the harp, with a variety of genres and composers that have shaped her as a musician. With beautiful music from Franz Liszt, to Welsh harpist and composer Catrin Finch, Anwen is looking forward to sharing the versatility of the harp and its many colours with all of you.

About Anwen Mai Thomas
Award-winning Welsh harpist Anwen Mai Thomas is a dynamic, diverse performer with professional solo, orchestral and chamber experience. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music where she was awarded a Distinction and the ‘Harp Prize for the highest recital mark’ at her MA graduation in 2023, along with a DipRAM. Since becoming a freelance musician, Anwen has performed with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, as well as Sinfonia Smith Square at the BBC Proms. Her numerous solo performances include a recital at St Mary Le Strand, Elgar Society, Wight Proms Festival and with the Cheltenham Chamber orchestra.
She won the coveted ‘Rhuban Glas’ (Blue Riband) instrumental competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and 1st prize scholarship at the Wales International Harp Festival. Other successes include winner of ‘Nansi Richards’ Prize for the best Welsh harpist and being one of 25 Global Young Harpists to perform at the World Harp Congress 2020.
Anwen regularly performs with choirs and vocal groups, including Inchant, Le Voci, and The Jenny Lind Singers. Anwen is a Live Music Now musician, which enables her to showcase the versatility of the harp and to meet participants from all walks of life to create music together, in SEN settings, hospitals, care homes and day centres.
Anwen enjoys her portfolio career and regularly performs at private and corporate events, as well as teaching her private harp and piano students.
